Belgium Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management and France ENPC MBA Paris join forces to launch a joint MBA program.
The new full-time one-year program is set to launch in September 2013. The curriculum was designed to focus on innovation and business creation by making use of the Ecole des Pont's Design Thinking Centre and the Solvay's Entrepreneurship Centre. The program is unique in Europe as students will travel between two capitals of the European Union: they will spend five months in Paris and five months in Brussels. Classes will be delivered in 4-day sessions giving the choice of living in one city and commuting to the other for a 4-day "block" of classes. They will spend also another five months doing an internship, elaborating a business plan or performing consultancy activities. Although France and Belgium are French-speaking countries, the Solvay-Ponts MBA is a global program that will be taught entirely in English by faculties from both institutions. Students will gain intercultural experience with two international study trips in Silicon Valley and Shanghai and associated programs in Casablanca, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Shanghai. "It's all very simple", said Bruno van Pottelsberghe, Dean of Solvay. "We are combining the greatest strengths of our MBA programmes to create a full-time, and later a part-time, program"
Cost of the program is €32,000 and includes registration fees for the study trips. Student will be responsible of the transportation costs.
Both schools have been offering MBA programs for more than 20 years but face competition against universities and business schools with large enrollments. ENPC was ranked 30th n the Financial Times European Business school rankings in 2004 but, according to the school, the adoption of the visiting faculty model was not considered due to new requirements of the rankings. Both institutions hope to increase the number of graduates and expand the alumni network.
