UVA Darden Dean will Step Down to Return to Faculty

In one of his blog's note, Robert F. Bruner the current Dean of Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia (UVA) has announced he will step down from his role to return to faculty at the conclusion of his second term in July 2015.

Executive Vice President and Provost John Simon also announced that Ken Eades, Professor of Business Administration at Darden, will serve as chair of the committee for searching the next Dean.

Bruner joined the faculty in 1982. He was appointed Dean of Darden in 2005.

During his tenure, two Executive MBA programs were launched at Darden : the MBA for Executives and the Global MBA for Executives. In 2009, the school worked with Amazon to introduce e-readers into the classroom. MOOCs such as « Foundations of Business Strategy » or « New Models of Business in Society » were launched on Coursera in 2013. He established new research Centers for Excellence including the Center for Asset Management and the Institute for Business in Society.

He is also active on the web : he has been written on the Dean's blog since 2005 and regularly posts tweets on his Twitter's account @Bob_Bruner followed by more than 4000 people.

He has recently participed to a meeting about gender equality in business schools at the White House with other Deans of business schools including Berkeley (Haas), Yale SOM, Michigan (Ross).
