McGill University - Desautels Appoints Female Dean

The Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University in Montréal, Canada has appointed Isabelle Bajeux-Besnainou as new dean. She began her new role earlier than expected on September 1 and became the first woman to be Dean of Desautels.

Bajeux-Besnainou comes from George Washington University where she has spent 21 years in a number of roles including associate dean for undergraduate programs and professor in finance. She oversaw the launch of a new bachelor of science in finance degree and also redesigned the first-year development program as well as the Bachelor of Business Administration.

An alumna of the École normale supérieure of Paris, she received a doctoral degree from the Université Paris-Dauphine in Mathematics Applied to Finance in 1989. She was professor of finance at Essec Business School from 1989 to 1993 and lectured at Université de Montréal in the fall of 1993 before joining George Washington University in 1994.

She succeeds Peter Todd who stepped down few months ago and joined HEC Paris to serve as the new Dean.
