India's SP Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) has announced the appointment of a new dean.
Ranjan Banerjee has taken over his new role on June 6, 2015 and has announced, a series of actions that would make him approachable, enable a two-way communications process, create a mutual trust environment and build a culture of working together with the students, faculty, alumni, staff and other stakeholders to chart the way forward according to a press release.
In a message to the batch of 2015-2017 of Post Graduate Diploma of Management (PGDM), an MBA-equivalent program accredited by AMBA, he urged them to pay as much attention to the values component that underlines the PGDM curriculum, as they do to the more conventional academic input.
Banerjee received a BTech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay in 1987, an MBA from IIM Calcutta in 1989 and a PhD in Management from University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management in 2010. He was a teacher for IIM Calcutta, Great Lakes, Symbiosis, IIT-SOM, Singapore Management University and Carlson School of Management and has published several articles in Harvard Business Review. He has worked for fast-moving consumer goods compaanies such as Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, Vadilal and served as COO for Install Worldwide. Additionally, he consults for national and multinational companies in various industries including Philips, BASF, Vodafone and Axa.
