The Meredith College is a liberal arts women's college which was chartered by the First Baptist Church in 1891 as Baptist Female University and later renamed in 1909 to honor Thomas Meredith, founder of the Biblical Recorder. The college left the Baptist State Convention and became independent in 1997.

The student body is nearly 2,000 undergraduate female students with men at the graduate level.

Meredith College received the AACSB accreditation in 2010.

The Meredith College MBA program will offer a concentration in human resources management (HRM)
